What is a REAL-ID?

REAL ID is a federal standard for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards, designed to make IDs more secure and harder to forge. You’ll recognize a REAL ID by the star in the upper right-hand corner of your license or ID card. If your ID doesn’t have this star, it’s not REAL ID-compliant.

· Passports

· Passport Cards

· US Military ID

· Federal trusted traveler program ID (Global entry card)

US travelers 18 years of age and older will be required to travel with identification that complies with federal standards. Children under 18 traveling with an adult do not need to provide this identification to get through TSA.

Visit your local DMV to replace your current driver license or ID.

Plan your trip considering it will take up to 3 weeks to receive your REAL- ID in the mail. Temporary cards are not acceptable travel documents.
